Color proofing at the printer

July 25th, 2010 06:52PM

Check out this short video, filmed, edited, and uploaded on-site with the iPhone 4. While waiting for the print runs to be set up, and while the client and I proofed color tones, I couldn’t help myself, but document the process with iPhone HD video clips and photos. On this video you have an idea of the color proofiing that we did just before the large print runs, and you can see the massive Heidelberg Speedmaster that was used to print the catalog in its glorious action.

Time Lapse Jean Yves Photo Shoot 2009

February 18th, 2010 12:07AM

Above you will be able to watch a “bird’s eye view” of the entire studio being set up, the building of the background sets, and the ongoing shoot for Jean Yves Designer’s catalog shot over at Splashlight Miami. You are about to watch four long days compressed into 2:05 minutes.  When my assistants watch this they will get tired all over again I’m sure. Thanks a bunch Alex and David!!! The whole shoot was a great success! Thanks to all involved for your great work! Enjoy the memory.

Seen from a Different Perspective

February 1st, 2010 11:23AM

In the collage above I find myself not looking from a different perspective, but being seen from one. Unlike regular behind the scenes photographs that we photographers are used to collect, or even the “traditional” photographer’s self-portrait, where one aims a camera at a mirror (nothing against it, I’m guilty of it too), this image captures the exact view of the subject.

In this case, friend and Splashlight’s studio manager Beto Pacheco does a remarkable job of shooting me while being photographed and directed at the same time. It was simply for the fun of it during a studio demo in a private event. His camera was triggering the Profoto power packs through it’s own on-camera flash. In the end nobody got hurt, and we had some very good laughs while at it. On the right Subject/Photographer Beto Pacheco.

It’s the FIRST entry of a NEW DECADE

January 20th, 2010 06:22PM

Hey Guys, this is it! The first blog post is here. That’s me on the left having some fun, or better yet, having a blast. That’s the approach. “Have a blast no matter what!” You might get only one chance at it. Well, enough with the philosophical entry… The idea for the blog is to share with you and the rest of the world a true passion.

I’ll be posting a variety of things, from an extreme artistic view of photography to the most advanced technological tools and techniques that facilitate the creation of imagery, be it still or moving.  This will be a glimpse of what goes on, in and around my head, populated by a lot of visuals, final images, behind the scenes, excerpts from shoots, interesting works that I pick up from other people, opinions, reviews, and ideas. It’s a new decade, full of inspiration, hope, and energy. With all of that and more, it’s an opportunity to start over, be better, dream, realize and achieve. Let’s create!
